"Most of the songs on this album are inspired by raging storms, empty coasts, deep forests, and scenes from old legends. For me ‘Isola’ is about finding and accepting connection to something eternal, primordial, like nature or mythology — while the modern world of people is mostly disappointing. It might be considered a form of escapism, which, I guess, is mostly true. That’s why the album is named ‘Isola’, which means ‘island’."

The sophomore LP titled ‘Isola’ was recorded and released by Seva Shaposhnikov, multi-instrumentalist based out of Netherlands, with the help from his friends and former band members.

Neko Nine has come a long way full of ups and downs since its inception in 2009. The project started as Seva's solo attempt, then Neko Nine turned into a 5-piece touring band, only to break up a few years later. Since 2015 the project has been on a long hiatus. Now Neko Nine is back to the roots and active again as a solo act.

New album is out after 8 years of silence, and is mostly based on Seva's ideas, but also pays respect to a period of time, when the full band was jamming together, building up on some of old unreleased demos. "Isola" is out on July 22 via Lights and Sounds label, in collaboration with Friend Club Records.

Neko Nine is Seva Shaposhnikov. A musician originally from Russia, but currently based in Amsterdam.

The project started in 2009 as one-man-band. Later, in 2011-2012 Neko Nine turned into a 5-piece band and signed to Fluttery Records.

In 2015 band broke up and took a long hiatus.
